An extremely rare 1930s Wade underglaze pin cushion handle, depicting a Spanish Lady. The same handle (in a different colourway) can be seen on page 52 of the 'World of Wade Book 2" by Warner and Posgay. It measures 3-7/8" inches tall and has "Wade Made In England" hand written to the base, which you can see from the photographs has started to fade. The figure is in wonderful condition. All in all a SUPERB quality and rare gem. Price: £ 295 |
An extremely rare 1930s Wade model of a tortoise. The same model can be seen on page 57 of the 'World of Wade Book 2" by Warner and Posgay. It measures 3 inches long by 1-1/4 inches tall at the head. It originally would have had "Wade England" but this has rubbed off over the years. A Wade Cellulose Figurine of Hille Bobbe. She measures a very big 9-3/4 inches high and is in overall excellent condition for her age and the cellulose paint finish. She does have some spots of flaking, however, overall the colours are still really deep and rich (as shown in the photos). She is fully marked to the base (see the last photo). It is in excellent condition, however, if we were being ultra critical, there is a tiny underglaze nick underneath the front foot which would have been done during manufacture. This squirrel was reissued after the war in the 1940/50s, however, this is a 1930s version with a handwritten mark "Wade England" and is a very rare find.
